We are planning on spending one night in the Loire Valley area. We are coming from Mont St. Michel the night before and going to Paris the following day...so we are traveling from SW to NE Loire Valley direction. Can anyone recommend a place to stay the night before we visit the main castles in the area. Our budget is around 200 Euros per night. We are a family of 3 adults, so we need either one large bed and a single or 3 singles. Our first preference would be to stay in a Chateau style hotel or an authentic French style BB. Next choice would be to stay in a nice hotel within our budget. Can anyone please help us with suggestions or recommendations. I thank you in advance for all of your replies.
Last September we stayed at the Hotel Le Blason in Amboise. It was quite reasonable (way under your budget) and had parking nearby. I don't know what their triple rooms are like but out double was quite pleasant and the normal small size of a European hotel room. It is an easy walk into the heart of Amboise and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I does have a bit of history having stated out as a girls school in 1490.
I stayed twice here in the 80's. www.chateau-tertres.com
In Onzain across the Loire from Chaumont. You can see the chateau from the front of the hotel.
Check out La Roseraie in Chenonceux. Lovely small hotel, excellent restaurant, friendly hosts, and you can walk to the chateau. The town is actually a small village, so no traffic hassles.
