It appears I have chosen a time to go to Heiligenblut between the summer hiking and winter ski season. I plan to arrive on October 5 to stay of two nights. I am having a hard time finding a hotel room, double for two adults. The hotels I have communicated with are closed for the season at the end of September. Any suggestions? Thank you!
We stayed at a very nice place in Heiligenblut in May 2007 called Pension Edelweiss. It is located below the town next to the river and has a balcony with a beautiful view of the Grossglockner. Most all of the hotels were closed in May but this B&B was open so they may be open during the time of your planned visit. Try e-mailing them at: [email protected] They serve a nice breakfast of cereals and cheeses and it is included with the price which was 56 euros in 2007. It is run by a nice couple, Christian and Barbara. It is a small place with maybe 10-12 clean rooms with private baths.
Hi Penny, In Oct. 2006 we stayed at and can highly recommend a very nice place, the Pension Ederhof, which is just a few minutes outside the village of Heiligenblut. Very quiet and picturesque location with simply fantastic views of the valley and the Grossglockner. www.ederhof-heiligenblut.at www.worldisround.com/articles/324599/index.html Paul
Thank you very much for the suggestions. My husband was thinking we should just take our backpacks and camp. We will be staying in the Pension Edelweiss so that worry is off my list, from the pictures it looks like we will have wished we allocated more time for Heligenblut.
