Has anyone stayed at Hotel Du Chateau? They have a new attic apt they are offering me. Any other Dordogne hotel suggestions?
excellant
Lisa:
My recommendation in the Dordogne is Hotel Pontet in the little village of Beynac. The hotel is very clean and comfortable - the village is charming - and perhaps the best point the hotel's restaurant is just fantastic. I recommend the hotel to anyone headed to the Dordogne. Have fun.
We stayed in the Hotel Du Chateau last September and enjoyed it. Great location. food in their cafe was good and the view from our room was beautiful, and the people who run the place are very friendly and helpful. Having said that they were not our first choice. We had reservations at Hotel Bonnet and arrived in town in the afternoon of a fantastic fall day, drove into the parking lot of the Hotel Bonnet and thought it was funny that there was no other cars there. The hotel was closed for the season and they had not notified us even though we had confirmation when we reserved the room for three nights. We drove on into Beynac and stopped at the Hotel du Chateau and they rented us a nice room overlooking the river. We were truly thankful that they were so nice to us. Have a great time and enjoy your stay in Beybac. You can reserve tickets over the internet for Grotte de Font-de Gaume, which are real 15000 year old paintings and not copies.
Thank you both. This is very helpful.
We ate in the Hotel du Chateau... but did not stay there. The food is wonderful and we will stay there next year.
