My sister and I are headed to Paris in September and I'm looking for a cheap, safe, clean place to stay. I like hostels for the cost, kitchen, and free breakfasts but I'm looking into any place. Any suggestions for specific places to stay or what area to stay in? Or avoid? Does anyone have experience with Bastille Apartments? Thanks all!

Hi Katie. We stayed in an Etap Hotel in the 14th. The price wasn't bad for 2 students on a budget; it was clean and in a good area; and only a few minutes' walk from the Porte d'Orleans Metro stop.
have you tried the hotel du marais, they offer special price for the summer

Both Rick Steves and Lonely Planet call the three MIJE hostels "the best budget accommodations in Paris." They are renovated 17th-century private mansions and are in the Marais which is a beautiful and very central part of Paris.
Check out Plug-Inn hostel http://www.plug-inn.fr/ I'm staying there with a friend in mid-September. Ryan
My best friend stayed at St. Christopher's Paris Hostel.
See: www.st-christophers.co.uk/paris-hostels. She really like it and felt it was one of the better hostel experiences she's had. While it's in the 19th arrondisement, it's near 3 metro stations, has free internet, and brand new rooms. Bon voyage!
Thanks for all the suggestions! I actually booked a studio apartment on airbnb.com. I couldn't beat the price and it'll be nice to have our own space. Can't believe I'll be in Paris next month!
