We will be in Bacharach in a couple of weeks and have had trouble finding a room. There is a room at Hotel Hillen and I was hoping to get a few reviews of the hotel. I haven't found much info on it other than the listing in Rick's guidebook. Thanks.

We stayed there in 2004. It is located right behind the rail line so if you stay there request the quiet side. We did this and our request was granted. We slept soundly but it being our first two nights we were jet lagged and could have slept through a hurricane. The rates were reasonable and I would have no problem staying there again.
Quick follow up in case anyone searches for Hotel Hillen in the future:
We did end up staying there in Sept of 2007 and overall, we were satisfied. For the money (40 euros/night) we felt that the hotel was fine. The staff was very friendly. The trains were definitely loud (we were on the tracks) but it didn't really bother us once I figured out the proper way to shut the windows. But, the bed was uncomfortable and the room was very outdated with different (and bad) wallpaper on each wall and a lenoleum floor. We had reserved a room with a toilet but there was a plumbing issue so we had to go down the hall (so to speak). That was really fine with us though. We spent our first two nights ever in Europe there and at the time, we were content because it felt like part of the experience. It turned out to be our least favorite stay of the trip but it was also the least expensive. And it was worth it to be in Bacharach. I hope this helps someone. Feel free to contact me directly.
