Hotel for 6am Flight out of Berlin

Hi,

The day we leave Europe we're flying out of Berlin's Tegel airport at 6:45am. We'll be arriving in Berlin the day before with family who fly out a day before us. I'm assuming the best bet is too stay right next to the airport in order to make the early am flight. But the day before, we'd like to go into the city and look around.
I'm looking at either Hotel Baerlin or Grand City Hotel Berlin Airport, because they are both inexpensive and close to Tegel.
However, is it easy to get from this area back into the city for our last day before leaving? We'd like to explore the city at least for a few hours.

Suggestions welcome!

We found the Berlin public transport to be very easy to use and convenient, so you shouldn't have much trouble getting around. We stayed in Berlin for 5 days before flying home to the US. We needed to be at the airport by 8:30 am and if I remember correctly there was at least one regular bus route to/from Tegel. Not sure about that early, so probably better that you are staying out by the airport, but you shouldn't have any trouble getting around. Have a great trip! We loved Berlin!
