Hotel Europa in Madrid

We are just leaving this charming hotel after 2 nights. I can see why it is recommended. It is centrally located within walking distance to both the Prada and the Palace. The hotel is all marble and granite and immaculately clean. And reasonably priced at 100 Euros for a double. The only downside to be aware of is that they are excavating a new subway station in the plaza in front (Puerto del Sol) and seem to have no noise bylaw as the jackhammer goes from 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Closing the 2 sets of doors on the front window does help considerably, depending how sensitive you are to noise.

My family is going to be in Madrid in a few weeks and are looking for a hotel that is good for a person with difficulty walking. Can a taxi pick up right at the front door and is there an elevator working? Thanks for the info!!

The hotel does have elevators. I think you could get reasonably close to the front door with a car. Why don´t you email the hotel and ask them. They always got back to me within 24 hours with any questions.

The hotel sits on a pedestrian mall so direct front door access is not available during the date. Once we left at 6AM and the cab pulled right to the front door but there were no people around. There is a close side street. The back rooms are quieter but we prefer the front rooms with the french doors over looking the mall BUT it is noisier and Madrid doesn't settle down till well after 2AM. That is why we carry ear plugs. Work great. Our favorite location in Madrid.
