I just booked a two-night stay at Hotel Eder, in Munich, for 65 Euro per night (single)t. It looks nice to me, very close to the train station and centrally located. It got tons of good reviews on Tripadvisor. Tatiana replied almost instantly to my query, and the reservation was made in short order. Has anyone ever stayed there? I was looking for an inexpensive, dog-friendly hotel close to the station, and not finding very many choices. Any opinions?
I wouldn't put much faith in a Tripadvisor review, good or bad, since there is no control over the quality, but Hotel Eder looks like a place at which I would stay, if I didn't already have a €54, no English speaking favorite in the suburbs. BTW, when you come back, let us know about your experience. I'm always looking for accommodations in Munich to recommend.
I don't usually care about tripadvisor reviews either but I looked it up just for fun. I will be coming from Hallstatt by rail and needed a place convenient to getting to the airport. I haven't been to Munich for years, and thought it would be cool to stay in the center after being in the country. I have a full day to stroll around the city. I'll let you know for sure.
My wife and I also have Hotel Eder booked, 4 nights in April @ 81 Euro for a double ensuite over Easter weekend. My experience was much the same. They were very prompt in their replies to my emails, and were accommodating when our plans changed slightly. We thought it was a perfect location in downtown but still close enough to the train station for the day trips we have planned. Also its on a quiet road off the main street. I believe down further to the right as you leave the train station is the Red Light District. I always use Google street view to virtually walk around an area I am considering staying just to see whats nearby and get a feel. There are plenty of hotels in the area but they seemed a little seedy and I could imagine (as Rick says) men with mustaches hanging around outside... You didn't say when you're going but we'd be very interested in hearing about your experience.
You'll be there before me, I'm going in May! I'm going to look it up on Google to check it out too. Thanks!!
