I can't make up my mind between the two hotels, these are the things that are important to me: Clean, safe, easy walk to the Latin Quater(I can do it! and need to do it), close to the tower as I am doing the night bike tour and need to meet the group near the tower, good shopping, thrift stores, and good food. Easy to get to CRG, shuttle ok and I prefer... Any thought about the two, thanks so much. leaving in April, going alone, only ther for two short nights.... Bummer..... I know that the extremely popular Hotel du Champs de Mars books out many, many months in advance, so you'd probably be pretty lucky to get an April reservation at this point.

I've stayed at both and would prefer Champs du Mar over Muguet. Why--because to me Champs du Mar was the ultimate little French hotel while Muguet is too fussy for me. However, having said that, I agree with the earlier poster that Chaps du Mar will most likely be booked solid for the next 6 months. This is a great little area to stay in that has everything you list in your question, except possibly walking to the Latin Quarter. I would take the Metro. It's a long walk.
