Has anyone stayed at this hotel which is actually within a hospital? Location looks great and apparently breakfast is incl in the rate.
I never stayed here myself, but I do know some people that have. The bottom line - IT IS A HOSPITAL. Some gruesome sights may come with the territory (as I was told by my friend, but perhaps that was just a peculiar case) However, the location is TOP! Next to Notre Dame-some rooms offer a view of Notre Dame. They said the rooms are basic, but kept "Hospital clean." The hospital itself is BEAUTIFUL. I went into the courtyard and was totally enchanted. Let us know if you decide to stay!
Susan go on the tripadvisor.com |Paris forums,,there are a couple of recent posts on there about people staying there, and they thought it was fine,, and they reported no gruesome sites( there won't be any,, its not a trauma ward for goodness sake!)
In fact I have spent alot of times in hospitals (volunteering) and have never seen any "gruesome" sights, I am thinking some poster has a fear of hospitals to say such a thing,, they rarely do open surgeries in the hall ways,, lol
lol! Let me clarify that. I had a friend that stayed there once that claimed that she came upon a bloody sight from a patient bandage mishap. I'm sure this isn't a daily happening. Perhaps she was just too sensitive about the issue. I, myself, would love to stay here. In fact, it's at the top of my list for the next time I stay (at least top 2).
I work in health care here in the states. I can unequivocally state that any hospital that runs/owns/offers rooms in a hotel associated with a hospital will be.... a just plain hotel. It will not be an operating threatre, an ER, a clinic, or anything like that. "Patient bandage mishap?" Puh-lease. Yes, it is possible that a patient lost a bloody dressing somewhere. It is, however, VERY unlikely that a patient was in the hotel area... or that an incident like that would happen more than once. "Gruesome sights?" Again, I am sceptical. VERY sceptical. Paris is a modern European city. There are strict regulations for patient contact that apply to this hotel, and to any hospital that does NOT include a hotel. Many hospitals both here in the USA and abroad offer accomodations for visiting families - and if the space is available, may offer it for rent to folks who do NOT have a patient in-house. That does not mean that there will be tottering, bleeding patients infesting the corridors. You can rest assured that you will be staying in a clean, nice hotel.
Susan,
My wife and I stayed there in 09' and loved it. Right after we checked in the bells at Notre Dame started ringing and I could stand on our bed and look out the window and had a great view of it. Very convenient to Notre Dame, The Metro is literraly out the door, Isle St Louis was very neat and we had a wonderful meal there. The Courtyard was very neat (this isn't your average hospital). Walked most places and took Metro everywhere else. When we go back we are definately staying there. You are right in the middle of everything. Have a Great Time!
I haven't stayed at this hotel but we did a "site check" last March when we were at Notre Dame. We were walking by and I insisted we go in and check it out. One friend was eager, the other two very reluctant. You enter the hospital and turn to the right and go up a couple of stairs and turn left, then right again to the elevator. The staff seemed very nice and showed us a room. The room was larger than the RS recommended hotel I was staying in. The room was clean, the view was the courtyard of Notre Dame. They have a small room with snacks and drinks for purchase. I would stay there with no hesitation. The hospital is across a garden area and although we did see a patient in a wheelchair that was
the only indication we were in a hospital.
