Hotel Diana no deposit, legit?

I am trying to make a reservation at the Hotel Diana in Paris. I received an email saying they had made the reservation for me but they do not need any form of payment, credit card info etc. to reserve the room "I only need to reconfirm in the week before I arrive." This makes me nervous. Is it legit? Are they going to honor this reservation when I arrive there?

Snuggs, I can't speak about the Hotel Diana, but it does happen with hotels in the countryside. They take your name and honor the reservation. I'm always surprised, but I've never had a problem. Please let us know how this turns out for you.

At our hotel, we very rarely ask for a deposit. We assume that if someone makes a reservation, they will have the decency to inform us if they will NOT be coming. Look at this situation the other way round .... Imagine that! .... Someone is prepared to trust YOU! Is there some reason why they should not? :-)

I've spent 108 nights in Germany and Austria in the last 10 years (probably 40 places) and no one has ever asked me for a deposit or a credit card. If it ever came to it, I might give someone my credit card number to hold a place, but I would never give them a deposit. I'd stay somewhere else.

If you call them back, you'll have a room, if you don''t you won't. Simple. That's the way it works.

Same thing just happened to me booking a B&B in Naples. one of the beauties of Europe, it's nice that there are still trusting people out there :)

Hotel Diana is in Paris, it is legit, and although I myself have not stayed there I made a reservation there, confirmed in a week before I arrived, and then had to cancel 3 days before my check in date. They not only had my reservation, they were gracious in how them treated me when I explained I had to cancel. I paid no fee.
I think you should go on tripadvisor.com Paris forums and ask this question, several posters have actually stayed there and will likely be able to respond , plus you can read the reviews. I did walk by the hotel and I like the area very much.

Yes it is legit. We stayed there in May and did not require any credit card information or advance payment.
The location was perfect for us, right across the street from La Sorbonne in the 5th. Service was excellent and the rooms very clean and ours had a small fridge in it.
