Hotel des Grandes Ecoles

I stayed at the Hotel des Grandes Ecoles in June 1999, and really liked it. I am thinking of staying there again this spring and wondered if anyone has any recent experience with it.

We stayed there last May (2008)--our second stay. We had a very pretty room, #134, and there was a huge tree just outside our window. It felt like we were in the countryside. The garden & terrace are lovely and the huge gate makes this hotel very secure. Lots of good restos nearby and walking distance to Notre Dame. Have a great trip to Paris!

Hi Sherry,
We stayed there about 3 years ago. I like the location near Rue Mouffetard though the room we stayed in was tiny. It's still listed in Rick's 2008 book but I haven't checked in the 2009 edition. I'd stay there again but on an upcoming trip we're going to try a different neighborhood--the Marais.

Hi Sherry,
I have stayed there a number of times. Most recent was last February and I am going to be there again in two weeks. It is a wonderful place to stay. The latest improvement was internet available (for a price) in your room (I travel with computer). It continues to have many Europeans in the winter. Mama and daughter were there last year and as friendly as ever. It is maintained meticulously.
Have fun!

We stayed there in April this year and really enjoyed it. However, since it has no air conditioning, I would try to stay on the 2nd floor so you can sleep with the windows open.
The place is spotlessly clean and very safe. You can't beat the price!
