Hotel close to Zurich train station

Has anyone stayed in a hotel close to the main Zurich train station? Or stayed at a hotel that is across the street from the main Zurich train station?

Charity I have stayed twice at the Pension St Josef, a short walk from the train station. Easy to find, and near restaurants, shopping. It is run by nuns, and very clean and quiet. I would stay again. google up their website.

Hotel Walhalla is the closest--right across the street. We have not stayed there, but we have stayed at HotelBristol and Hotel St. Josef, each a ten-minute walk for the station. MSt. Josef is above the Altstadt so convenient for strolling there. I was not aware it was run by nuns. Our quad room was small but adequate.

We stayed one night at the Hotel Arlette - a close walk to the train station. It was nothing special but close and price was less than most. I would likely stay there again.

We stayed at Hotel Bristol arriving and leaving Switz. A 10 minute walk from the train station. Very modern and clean, a short walk to many restaurants in the area. They also offered a discount if you reserve direct and show them a copy of the Rick Steves' Switzerland Guide book. We would stay there again.

Charity, I'd highly recommend Hotel Walhalla, which Lola mentioned. It's extremely close to the main station. The rooms are very clean and modern, and the staff are great. To provide an example of how close it is, you can see the station from the hotel and it's only about a five minute walk (if that). There's another option though. About 20 metres from the hotel, there's a stairway that leads down to the Rail City shopping area, which is part of the station. There's a Burger King right at the bottom of the stairs on the left. If the weather is inclement, it's nice to be "under cover" when walking to the station. One other advantage of the hotel is that there's a large lot across the street where the tourist buses depart from. When I bought a ticket for one of the city tours, the front desk clerk walked across the street with me and assisted me to get the right ticket. There are also convenient Tram stops right in front of the hotel. When/if I return to Zürich, I'll definitely consider staying at Walhalla again. Happy travels!
