My Brother & I are trying to book a TWIN reservation here for 27 December for 3 nights. Are the rooms too small? Thanks
Ian,
Have you ever stayed at either of these hotels? If so, when? If not, have you been in either of these hotels?
My granddaughter, age 15, and I stayed here in June. We had a twin room on the ground floor. It was wonderful and I will return. Room is small with 2 twin beds, 2 small bedside tables and a small table with 2 chairs we used for breakfast. It was delightfully decorated. The bathroom is generously sized. We loved the location. Easy walk to Metro, Eiffel Tower, and train to Versailles. Laundromat one block away, grocery store next door, Rue Cler shopping around the corner with wonderful fruit tarts and gelato to die for. The small size of the room wasn't an issue for us. I would doubt you will be in the room much except for sleeping, this is Paris and so much to see and do.
I don’t know, Christy. I wouldn’t say this is common based on my own personal experience over years of travelling in Europe. In fact, I believe this may be the only lodging anywhere that ignored an inquiry and subsequent follow-ups (at least the only one that comes to mind at present). And, my experience has been that hotels respond regardless of whether or not they’re booked up…this has been fairly universal for me. It may be a great hotel…I’ll never know, because they wouldn’t respond (and others apparently had the same issue with them as I described above). For both the time of year we were travelling & the length of advance notice of my inquiry, I would have found it hard to believe they would have been booked. Anyway, there are lots of great places in great neighborhoods in Paris…no need to waste time on a place that can’t respond. It sounds like we’ve just had different experiences. You’re more patient than me…I wouldn’t have given that B&B that many chances at my business. :)
Cheers!
My street side room was small but lovely. I'd like to call it cozy. But most of my time was spent in the streets of Paris and not in the room. I had a great experience. No one was rude. Breakfast was good and filling (breads, cakes, croissants, juice, yogurt, coffee).
I remember contacting this hotel two years ago with an inquiry and never received a reply, even after I followed-up. After that, I remember reading several reviews on varying forums where lots of folks had the same experience. Consequently, I never stayed there but can recommend a great hotel a few blocks away: Hotel de la Tulipe. So, if this place is full or doesn’t work for you for some reason, check out Tulipe…it’s highly rated and is still reasonably-priced. Yes, rooms are small in Paris but big enough.
Thanks to those who commented about the Hotel Champs du Mars, Paris. They are asking for my credit card number & security # on back of card.
I don't know if their web site or reservation email address are secure for my credit card information. Please advise. Thanks
Look in the address field…is it http or https? If https, it’s secure. You may also see a padlock icon on the bottom right of your screen if it’s secure. If you don’t see either of these, then it’s not secure, and your data will not be encrypted.
Michael, it's common in Europe for hotels to just not reply if there are no vacancies. I've had that happen when I emailed hotels in Amsterdam, Munich, Brugges, Paris...I kind of cringe when I think about how I emailed a particularly nice looking b and b in Amsterdam 4 times, asking for a room, getting a bit more impatient sounding each time. They must have wondered what was wrong with me. Then someone clued me in.
Hi Florrie, why not simply call the hotel with your card details? I do this all the time and have never had a problem. Wow, the Rue Cler area, FUN!
