We are picking up a rental car at Orly October 2 and wish to stay at a place not more than appx 1-2 hours away and hopefully charming (and not too expensive). Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

1 to 2 hours away from Paris in which direction, south? could you clarify that or give where you're headed? So that we can suggest accommodations that are in the direction you need to be going in. And if you could give an idea of price range, not to exceed cost/night. If you can give a little more info we can give more helpful advice.

Sandy, I love Chartres which is 1 hr. from Paris. Check out their website www.chartres.fr Click on Tourismos in the upper right corner. Then click on the British flag for English and check out the city and the accommodations. Have fun planning your trip.
