I will be taking Thalys to Amsterdam (Centraal) arriving mid afternoon to join a tour the next day. So, I need lodging. No car. Any ideas? Many thanks.
Boogaards, 5 min walk west of train station; still #1 in the city; near great restaurants. Peter is excellent host.
Boogards sounds great. However, they require a minimum of a 2 night stay. I only need one night. Any other ideas?
Try Heregracht 21 B&B. On the canal, the family has been running the B&B for 30 years. Nice people. We're staying with them in September.
Thanks. That looks like a darling place and if I were staying there for a week it might be right. But maybe a hotel is better for one night. The price for one night is an extra 15Euro added to an already high price.
Where will your tour be staying? Can you get in there a day early?
There is an Ibis hotel right at the Central Station. I'm sure they will take you for one night. We have stayed at several Ibis hotels around Europe and like them. They aren't the most expensive places to stay nor the least expensive. Breakfast is free in some, but not in others.
Nigel,
Great idea, but we will be on a barge and it is not available until the 3rd Sept. Possibly the Ibis hotel is my best bet. Most of the B&Bs want a several night stay. But they certainly look comfortable and nicer than a hotel. Most hotels make me think I am on a business trip - not vacation.
