Hotel and beerhall suggestions close to public transportation in Munich

Hello!
Any suggestions on hotels and beerhalls not far from public transportation stops. I seen one that Rick S suggest, Atlanta Hotel, anyone been there before? It has been several years since I been to Munich. Thanks for all replies!

I would not stay at hotel Royal again. Much to much street noise for my taste.

I recently stayed in the viktualienmarkt area and recommend it if it fits in your budget. The market is nice, has a small beer garden right there. Mariensplatz is a 5-minute walk and it has a U-bahn and S-bahn station, all the transportation you need. And the mother of all beer halls, Hofbräuhaus, is also in walking distance.

We stayed at the Hotel Blauer Bock which is near Viktualienmarkt mentioned above and liked it:

Viktualienmakt is a farmer's market/beer garden.

I do not know Atlanta Hotel personally but it is near the main shopping center of Munich, and an easy walk from Marienplatz, the train station, numerous Biergartens and other transportation stops. I think that you could pick any of the hotels under Rick's "Central Hotels" and say the same.

I know this is not in line with the traditional Rick Steves Recs "through the backdoor" ideals. However if money is not as much of a consideration the Hilton Munich City is atop the Rosenheimer S-Bahn stop. It also provides a direct link to the airport. About a 10 minute walk to Marienplatz.

Check out some of the Pension recommendations. Many are very convenient and affordable.

Hotel Ludwig opposite the train station. A few blocks (walking distance) to main area and beer gardens, Tourist class hotel.

We went to Munich in May and visited both Schneiderweisse and Hofbrauhaus. Hofbrauhaus was definitely fun and a huge tourist attraction, but Schneiderweisse had the best authentic German food we had anywhere in Germany--saurbraten to die for. It was full of locals, and we really enjoyed ourselves. Hope you have fun.
