Hotel Admiral - Vienna

We are thinking of staying at Hotel Admiral in Vienna for
our visit in July and wondered if anyone has stayed there before and has any feedback like the size of the room,
location and general friendliness of the staff.
Thanks!

Nadine,

My 24 year old daughter and I stayed at the Admial in Vienna in September 2003. Our room was clean and o.k. size... reminded me of a small hospital room, kind of cold and sterile. Hope your not driving... parking was a nightmare although the Hotel offered "Free Parking". The hotel was in a great location for walking to the "Ring" for the major sights listed in Rick's book. Also a short drive to Schonbrunn Palace. The afternoon and evening staff, unfortunitly, were some of the rudest people we had incountered on our 30 day vacation. Would I stay their again... sure.. the staff surely has changed in 4 years and the location and clean room is what is really important to me.

We stayed there last Sept. and would stay there again. Smallish rooms (as are many in Europe)but great location and friendly staff.

Hi Nadine,
If you are not driving to Vienna, then we suggest you make a reservation at the Pension Nossek, which is right on the Graben and a short walk to great restaurants and center city attractions. Take a taxi from the train station if that's how you are traveling. You will find Nossek personnel very friendly. As you probably know, you may also take meals at a pension, but it is not required that you buy your meals at Pension Nossek.
We've never taken rooms at Hotel Admiral. If I were rather wealthy, however, I would book us into the Hotel Sacher - a luxus and famed Viennese establishment just behind the Opera. That's my hotel fantasy, at least ...
Have a great stay, no matter where you go...
Keep on traveling. P.

Thanks for the responses.
Jack, we are staying at the Hotel Schweizerhof
which I believe in is in the inner circle, but would not mind changing to the Admiral if it was located within walking distance of the sites - St Stephen's,
shopping etc. Did you find it to be at a convenient location?
