I have found the website of this very reasonably priced hotel, but it is not right in Interlaken. I wonder if anyone has stayed here and can tell me how far it is from Interlaken and also what the hotel is like.

Actually it more or less is in Interlaken. There is a river that cuts through the middle of the city. On one side of the small bridge is Interlaken on the other side it's Unterseen. Most people walk through the area without realizing they are two different municipalities; that's how close/integrated they are to one another. The Hotel is in a good location halfway between the West and East (Ost) Stations; about a five minute walk.
