My parents and I are going to Europe next year in July. We will be going to Belgium, France, SPain and Andorra. In France we will be in Paris, Normandy and Marseille. In Spain we will be in Barcelona. I hear it wil be really hot. I have been to Hawaii several times in summer. Is it as hot and humid?? Thanks!
I can answer only for France; Barcelona to Belgium is several weather zones. Marseilles is hot in summer no matter what, like Spain. Yes, a heat wave is predicted this summer in France, but no one knows for sure. It's hot but not as humid as southern Indiana. Never been to Hawaii. On the other hand, you won't find as much air conditioning. Instead windows are open and people try to spend time outside.
Belgium can get very hot, but usually not for very long. More likely, expect warm and mild. I've even experienced summer days there when I needed to wear a jacket in the morning.
Most likely it will be hot -- it is July -- and it can be humid. I would classify it as more like Miami/Florida in July. Have no idea if that compares to Hawaii. You were expecting it to be cool????
I've spent 6 July's in Paris and Normandy in the last 10 yrs and it has been extremely hot in Paris but the humidity wasn't bad. I detest humid weather, it was not humid like Hawaii or Florida. Normandy has not been hot when I've been there.
Hi Brendon. As your departure time gets closer (maybe a month or a couple weeks out), start monitoring the weather in the cities where you'll be so you'll know what to expect and what to pack. I use weather.com. I was in northern Germany in August 2007 when it was so cool that we needed sweaters (maybe in the 60s) and last year in July when temperatures were in the mid-90s every day (the average is about 20 degrees cooler). It's hard to predict what next July will be like.
Paris will most likely be hot.......could be very hot. Around July 4th several years ago, it was almost insufferable for a day or two, then surprisingly pleasant for the rest of our journey. You didn't ask, but if you and your parents are not used to being out touring in hot weather, be sure to do some mid-day summer walking at home so everyone is well conditioned. Also be sure you have hotels with air conditioning, even though European air conditioning is sometimes not as strong as what we are used to in the U.S., it seems. Starting early in the day and taking a sit-down break with a cool drink in the hot afternoon helps. Cool, light, airy clothing and ventilated hat to shade the sun.
