Hostels in Interlaken

My husband and I are looking for a good, clean hostel to stay in for a night in Interlaken this July... We would like to find one under $100 for the both of us. We would like a private room, either twin or double, and we dont mind sharing a bathroom to keep the price down. Instead of playing the guessing game, I would love to get some recommendations on ones that you all have stayed at enjoyed! All input is appreciated:) Thanks!

In Gimmelwald there is the Mountain Hostel. Better yet, in Mürren there is the Chalet Fontana...not a hostel, just priced like one.

My wife and I stayed in the Backpacker's Villa Sonnenhof (www.villa.ch) in 2005. It was fantastic. It was before the addition of the new modern building. I don't know how much it costs now, but it was well under $100 for both of us together. We had a double room and booked both beds - so it essentially became a pvt room. There was a sink in the room, but showers and toilets were down the hall. It was a great room - really big - and since we didn't have to worry about others have a key to the room, we weren't restricted to the lockers. Also, since it was so big, the beds were both on the floor instead of bunk beds. This allowed us to push them together for a "king bed" of sorts. I don't know for sure, but from the looks of it, the new building is mostly dorm style rooms. But I bet they have some double rooms still in the actual "villa" - it is probably much nicer too - since it has some character and isn't just a modern block building. It was across the "square" from the main street with old Victorian hotels - and an easy 5-10 minute walk from Interlaken Ost station (at least I'm pretty sure it was the Ost station - could have been the West one - it has been 7 years! :) Good luck! Interlaken was awesome - and much more centrally located than Gimmelwald. Too bad you aren't staying longer!
