hostels/b&b's in Venice

I'm looking for any type of hotel in Venice that is around 50 EUR or less-- preferably near the center of town (is that asking too much?) ;)

Let me know of any good spots! Thank you guys

Hi Megan,

I posted this on the graffiti board a while ago. It wasn't exactly a hostel, but it wasn't quite a full-fledged hotel, either. From what I remember, it was in town, but not on an extremely busy street or anything:

  • Venice: Alloggi/The Gondola: We tried staying in a hostel here, but I think it was closed (we were there in January). We ended up finding this place, which wasn't really a hostel, but more like rooms a family rented out. It was reasonably priced, nice bathrooms and a great location.

If you need another option consider staying in adjacent town of Mestre. Mestre buses go to Venice train station then you can take vapareto boat to St Marks Sq etc. 50 Euros is a huge challenge for Venice.

We didn't do this, but when researching where we were going to stay last September, I did check out convent stays in Venice and Rome. I looked for you and this website has listed different convents in Venice. Maybe someone on this web site has tried a convent stay. - they are cheap compared to most other places in Venice. http://bittercyclist.blogspot.com/2005/07/venice-italy-hostels-schools-and.html - I can't personally recommend them.

Megan, In December, we stayed at Ca'Del Dose which was about a 5-10" walk to San Marco square. For 100 euros we got a 2 bedroom "suite" with bath, small breakfast included. I don't know what other size rooms they have but may be worth a try. It is a rather funky place, but very clean and very well run. Great restaurant next door. www.cadeldose.com
