Hospitel Hotel Dieu!

Has anyone stayed at the Hotel Dieu? It looks like it is in a very good area. Just wondered how you liked it. Thank you for your reply! Sharon

By definition, it's a hospital. The actual rooms they let out are in a seperate part of the hospital. It's a pit steep, but the location is about as good as you can get for convenience. Give it a try. I stayed there once, probably won't again, but only because I have areas I like better that don't get into my pocket so deep.

Thanks Guys for your replies. You know what I think, I'm going to try it. The location really appeals to me. From pictures I've seen there is a beautiful garden out back and everything is really accessible. Plus if I skin my knee or have other medical problems I'm at the right place. Lol, Maybe!

We checked out the Hotel Dieu while in Paris a year ago. You enter, take a right, go up some steps and take a left and then take the elevator up. The garden is a courtyard before going up on the elevator. The rooms were very clean and the personnel seemed nice as we asked for a look. They have a small area with snacks, wine, soft drinks, etc. for sale. I think I would like to
give it a try when I'm in Paris for a short visit.

Thanks Paula for your reply and info also. I guess we certainly have nothing to loose. If nothing else it's a bit quirky, but that's ok as long as it's clean and has a great location!

'Rue de bac is a street near there' Rue de Brac is over a mile away. 'but you don't see patients' You can't help but see patients, but it's not a trauma center. 'breakfast . . . coffee and croissant' There's a cafe down stairs.

Brac is obviously a typo since it doesn't exit to my knowledge. Bac is over......and Bon Marche is at the south end of it, so it's even further.

Well, yes the location is perfect for many venues. We were leaving the ND area when I noticed the sign and since I had read so much about the hotel I wanted to do a site visit. One friend was eager while the other two were a bit reluctant. We did see a patient in a wheelchair being transported by a male nurse. There were also a few pieces of hospital equipment near the hotel elevator. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there. p.s. We did make some jokes..wondering if
breakfast is hospital food?

That's a great location which will put you within walking distance of the Metro & lots of sightseeing venues. As for Rue du Bac and Bon Marche, neither are exactly right across the street from that hotel, so not sure why they are even mentioned when OP asked about the hotel. Can you walk to both? Sure...in about 15-20 minutes.

No kind of breakfast is included. The little coffee and rolls business they plop out upstairs costs four or five euro. If it were free, why would it be mentioned dismissively earlier?

I hate to divert the conversation but we need to get the geography right. Rue de Bac doesn't begin until you reach the other side of the Louvre, on the left bank across from the Caroussel du Louvre. The Bon Marche department store is even further, way south in the 7th. But it's worth the trek for the famous food department and hot chocolate in the cafe. The closest department store to the Hotel Dieu is the BHV, which has an incredibly interesting hardware store in the basement that carries really interesting stuff. This is a stone's throw. But if you went looking for gourmet food at a nearby department store, you'd more likely find nuts and bolts. From what Ralph is writing, I wonder if there isn't a second hospital, but in tbe 7th, opening rooms. It looks like we have a lot of new names besides Brac, like Citi and Coure.
