Congratulations.... You said that this is your first trip - is it your fiancee's first too? By southwest Germany do you mean the Black Forest or somewhere else? By eastern France, do you mean Alsace or somewhere else? Sorry for the extra questions but the answers will help pinpoint our answers to you. I just did a couple of weeks in the Schwarzwald / Alsace / Basel / Baselland and loved it. I'm not sure it would have been my choice for a first trip - I go several times every year. If you stay in a small town in the Schwarzwald which supports KONUS you can get free bus and train transport included in your hotel nights. What sort of things would you like to see? When is the big day - when is the trip?

"I really dont mind what we do or dont cover all at first. I just want a us to have a great experience" David, that is a great attitude that bodes well not just for your trip but for your marriage. Congratulations and have a wonderful time.

SW Germany would be the Stuttgart area. Great place to see and do a lot of things. The express train from Stuttgart gets to Paris in 3hr 40min a few times a day. It stops in Strasbourg, France as well. You could visit the Stuttgart area, then train or drive to Strasbourg (train would be my suggestion as construction is a nightmare right now), stay a few days there, then head directly to Paris. You don't say what part of the world you're coming from, but there's flights directly from Stuttgart to the US east coast, North Africa and parts of Asia. Frankfurt is also close by with more connection options.

Just got back from Colmar and there is a reason RS devotes a whole chapter on it. Beautiful old city, lots of restaurants & winstubs, Unterlinden Museum, Bartholdi Museum. Outlying towns reachable by bus or short train rides even cuter, Kaysersberg, Turckheim, Eguisheim, Neuf-Brisach. 3 hour TGV to Paris East.

It is my first time in Europe. my fiancee has been to Paris twice.. I think we will fly to Stuttgart then work our way into Alsace. Strasbourg is defiantly on the list. then a week in Paris.... that itinerary is not in stone. (i don't like schedule's on vacation but i like to know what i am doing. I am a huge soccer fan so any first division European match would be awesome.... I am dying for real German schweinshaxe and amazing beer... I really dont mind what we do or dont cover all at first. I just want a us to have a great experience
