We are planning on honeymooning in Spain/Portugal. We would fly out sometime between October 17th through the 31st and have about 2 weeks there. - Flying out of either Minneapolis or Chicago - Visit Sevilla, Barcelona, day or two in Morocco and possibly Porto - Cheaper the better
- Duration ~2 wks Thank you for any tips/suggestions/help you can share with us!
Sevilla == Look at any hotel/hostal in the Old Jewish Quarter -- great area, central to most of the sites you will want to see. Really Discove Sevilla Tours are the best I found there...Recommend Patio De Santa Cruz for the hotel..small, clean, no restaurant, etc on the premises, but they are only a 2 minute walk away. Will not break the bank either. Will need to fly between Sevilla and Barcelona I think.
Thanks. We are planning on flying between all the cities (seems to be the cheapest/fastest combo option). One unfortunate thing seems to be that we'll need to fly back to Barcelona as a roundtrip from Chicago is only $746 each total whereas trying to fly back from Sevilla or Porto/Lisbon is $712 at the cheapest, so we may as well spend the $100 to fly back to Barcelona.
I'm thinking now I may possibly switch out Lisbon/Porto for Ibiza, any thoughts? Kind of want some beach/relaxing time.
The AVE train between Barcelona and Sevilla takes 5.5 hours city center to city center and might be more relaxing than the flight. Estrella fare is 83 euro but the Web fare should be around 60 euro if you can get that.
That sounds pretty reasonable as the flight is $78US I've never traveled by train before either so it may be a cool thing to try.
Steve, I don't understand your flights? Are you saying that you can't find a cheap open jaw flight into Barcelona and out of Lisbon? Usually Open Jaws are cheaper than R/T. When I did a quick check on one date (Oct 26 to Nov 10) I found OJ's for only $63 more. Gives you one more day of vaca, and less time traveling. We spent some time on the Algarve beaches in South Portugal in Dec a couple of years ago, and absoluetly loved them. We spent time in Lisbon, and then drove our rental car to explore the coast and the Algarve. We enjoyed Porto also, but it was wet up there.
