Honeymoon in Paris, please help!!!

Hi all, new to post. I am going with my soon-to-be wife in Paris from June 29th on for 7 nights. We have narrowed it down to these three hotels. Please let us know if there are any preferences, or better values out there that we can look into. Much appreciated. Our price point is around 300-400 USD a night, but are looking for better pricing if possible, or better value at our price point.

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! Paris will be a fantastic place to spend your honeymoon.

Since I'm a budget traveler, I can't give you a personal recommendation on either your three hotels or any others in your price range. However, if I were to pick one of your three based solely on location, it would be the Westin. It's more central than the other two so you can easily walk to several famous sights and being close by the Tuileries Gardens is a bonus.

Since you'll be there for 7 nights, for that price range you would also probably be able to find a really nice apt for your stay. We like the ability to have a nice room to sit and visit at the end of the day and have a kitchen for breakfast or snacks. And all without the intrusion of maids. Check out some of the offerings on the Iloveparisapartments.com website or on vacationinparis.com
I think you might find that you can get more of a "Parisian experience" with some of the apartments than with a hotel room.

Dear Bill- Congrats on the wedding. Paris is a wonderful place. We have stayed both on the Left Bank and Right Bank, and I would highly recommend the Au Manoir which is on Blvd. St. Germain right across the street from Cafe Flora (which only go to for a glass of wine to people watch - the place is a rip off). We just stayed there last November for week and it is within your budget and breakfast is included. It is not a fancy budget hotel, but more a neighborhood small boutique hotel. Get a deluxe room and ask for one of the front rooms that look right out on St. Germain. The bathrooms have all been remodeled and are very nice and the rooms are good size. There is no gym or swimming pool but the location is super. You won't get the feeling of touristy, but more of being in a neighborhood. The Buci area is about 3 blocks away, which has a great market and superb people watching.

Sorry - I didn't mean fancy budget, I meant fancy business type hotel.

How about the gorgeous boutique Hotel de Lutece on Ile St. Louis (arguably, the best address in Paris - and can you get any more central?). It's well within your price range.

I almost recommended Hotel de Lutece, but didn't want to add to your list. But since Dale did, I'll add that Hotel de Lutece is our favorite hotel in our absolute favorite neighborhood in Paris. Ile Saint Louis is so quaint, charming, beautiful and romantic. Happy Wedding!

I would do an apartment. At your price range, you can book a really nice one, cheaper than a hotel for 7 days. Look at VRBO.COM for a start. The ones listed above will also work. Just look and compare prices and get a map and check locations. The closer to the center of Paris, the better, to a point. The bad thing about staying to close to the attractions is the restaurant bills go up and the service/food becomes . . . . .at times. When we are in Paris, we try to eat away from the center of town. A stroll down Avenue de St. Ouen, for example, brings you to a myriad of restaurants, with prices for lunch ranging 8 to 15 Euro for a 3 course meal. Closer in, around tourist spots, the same meal, would be 15 to 35 Euro.

Also, with the roasted chickens, prepared potatoes, cheese shops, wine shops, boulangers, desert shops, Picard frozen veges and other foods,, fresh fruits and vegie shops, available on the street, it is a wonderful experience to walk down the street and buy dinner to be taken back and eaten in your apt. All you have to cook is the fresh vegetables and you are ready to eat like a local.

You will have a lot more room, and more privacy in an apt. No maids coming in and out, some apts have no neighbors, etc. You will be living like a local. We had an apt. last year and really loved it. It was also much cheaper than a hotel, even cheaper than our tried and true Etap on Rue Dr. Babinski. We stayed 2 weeks for almost the same price as one week at Etap. It was worth every penny saved.

What a great message board and great people posting all the suggestions! I am zeroing in on the Hotel de Lutece, it looks fantastic! While the apartment idea sounds like a great option and I agree it would allow for a real "living in Paris" feel, I think for our Honeymoon we would like it best to have someone do the small things like make the bed for us etc. Any other hotels out there that someone enjoyed? One a friend of a friend just told me about was the Realis Christine, any thoughts?

Hello. My husband and I were in Paris last May. We loved staying at the Hotel Le Littre, 9 rue Littre, 75006 Paris. We are returning there this May for 19 nights. We have already paid for our room 804. It has a view of the Tower. The hotel has a wonderful location. We could walk to to a number of sites, restaurants, tour buses, the mall, the Montparnasse, the train station. etc. I have dealt with Laurence Potier, Reservations. Elaine Obermann
