Honeymoon in France

My fiancee and I are planning on going to France for our honeymoon in early June. We are planning on going to Paris for 3 -4 days and then spend an additional 3-4 days in the South of France.

Having both been to Paris before we have a pretty good idea for an literary there, but we have no clue about the South of France. Do you have an suggestions? We were looking at going to Provence and/or the French Rivera.

Thanks!

You're going to start an argument with that question. Not enough time for both Provence and the Riviera. Pick one.

The riviera is, overall, glitz and beaches although some cities, such as Nice, are really interesting if you get back into them away from the southern periphery. Additionally, the area has a couple of good museums.

Provence, on the other hand, will give you a feel for a different France than you'll find in Paris. Unfortunately, you can't do justice to all of Provence in the time you have alloted. My suggestion would be the Rhone area. Maybe staying in Nimes and taking in Pont du Gard, Avignon, Orange, and Arles.

The Riviera and Provence offer very different experiences and ambience. Books and photos will tell you about each place and then you can decide which would be best for you. What we like may not be what you like.

I've honeymooned in Paris and highly recommend it as one of Europe's most romantic cities.

If you want beach, some skimpy bathing suites, and have a body you'd like to show off, the Riviera may be for you. I don't and so my wife and I were more comfortable exploring Van Gogh's haunts in Arles and the other things Provence offers.
