Hi, we are thinking about honeymooning in Barcelona and the French Riviera in mid-June. We are wanting a relaxing vacation with lots of laying at the beach, eating good food, and great site-seeing. We'll have anywhere from 10-14 days. Any suggestions of must-see places/cities or hotels?
Hotel Suisse in Nice. Balcony views of the sea that won't break the bank. Nice is a 20 minute bus ride to Monaco. Good museums (Chagall and Matisse). And great food and beaches.
Erika,
I'd also recommend Hotel Suisse. If you can get a room overlooking the bay, it provides a great view down the Promenade des Anglais. It's also an easy walk from there to the "old town". Although I didn't lay on the beach there (I'm sure someone would have called out the "Harpoon Squad"), it looked a bit rocky.
Mid-June will likely be getting busy in that part of Europe, so pre-booking will be essential!
Have a look at the Spain Guidebook for details on Barcelona.
Congratulations!
Collioure would be a great place to spend a couple of days of your honeymoon. It's a couple of hours from Barcelona, just over the French border, and one of the most picturesque places you'll ever see. It's very small and relaxing. Great gelato!
Consider the sea along Provence Coast (between Marseille and Toulon)
