Hofbrauhaus Dinner Show /Viktualienmarkt closed on Sundays

Has anyone been to the rather pricy dinner show at the Hofbauhaus. We are a family of five and will treat ourselves to one good dinner-folk show on this vacation. It also seems as though the music that is free with dinner may be sufficent but with no folk dancing/ formal show Etc. Also is the Viktualienmarkt and Beer Garden totally closed on Sundays? We are in Munich for a Sunday to Monday. Are there any other outdoor markets on Sunday nearby? Thank you!

The English Garden is open on Sunday and has a large expansive beer garden. There is also at least one open air beer garden behind the pedestrian precinct (fauenkirk side) on the street that parallels the pedestrian precinct- but i would vote for English Garden.

Hi, Carol. I'm actually in Munich right now. We're finishing up two weeks at the campground here. My daughter and I strolled through the Viktualienmarkt this past Sunday and yes, all the food stalls were shut up tight. However the beer garden was open, along with one food place next door that serves basic, traditional foods to take back to your table. Sausages, chicken, roast pork, potato soup, etc. I didn't see any other markets, but most shops were certainly closed Sunday. Hope that helps. Cheers,
Renee

Thank you for the information. I am glad to know that the Beer Garden is open as we are hoping to have an easy meal there. I guess I will experience the Market Monday morning before we go on to Salzburg. Renee, how has it been with eating safely with the Ecoli issues. I have watched it closely and read everything including CDC and WHO and since I have little children, I am planning to avoid most uncooked vegetables during our stay next week to be safe. Such a terrible tragedy with an especially unprecedented form of Ecoli. I see the numbers have dropped with people sicked but it remains a high consideration for me feeding my children during our three week visit. Good to hear from you. Danke

Lynn, it turned out to be bean sprouts from a farm in northern Germany. Now that officials have that information, the outbreak has waned. We didn't adjust our eating at all and have had no problems. (Here's a link to a Der Spiegel article describing the current situation: http://www.spiegel.de/international/germany/0,1518,768278,00.html) Please let me know if I can help with anything else.

I haven't been to the dinnershow at Hofbrauhaus. They have a band playing, I think, all hours (at least they were when I was there). I'm not sure what they add at a dinner show that makes it worth the extra money. If it's a nice day, however, an outside beer garden in the English Gardens would be my choice.
