I would like to explain luberon hilltowns and I am staying at Avignon. Without a car, do I need to spend a night or 2 at one of luberon hill towns to explore the place better. If so, which hilltowns do you recommend? I am thinking of Isle sur La Sorgue because of transportation. Thanks

I suggest that you will have a really difficult time seeing a good deal of Luberon without a car. Towns you should see are Lourmarin, Gordes, Roussilon among many. I don't think that there are train stations in any of these towns.
