Hiking in the Berner Oberland area towards end July?

Is this good weather to hike in this region? Also, my husband is very fond of skiing, is this a good time for skiing on the alps?

Maybe water skiing on either the Thuner See or the Brienzer See. Otherwise, if you want to ski in July, go to the southern hemisphere. And as others have noted, hiking weather is great in July. Occassionally even too warm at the lower altitudes.

Thanks so the help. We live in the States and have skied a lot here - was just wondering how it would be in Switz. But we love hiking too...so looks like we will do that for couple of days in the BO area. :)

Switzerland is at a similar latitude than Montana (not quite the same but close enough). So a good time for skiing in the Swiss Alps would be somewhat similar to a good time to ski in Montana. Same goes for hiking.

What I meant is we have skied a lot in the US during the winter time - December through end March, I didn't mean July, sorry for the confusion. :)

The hiking in July would be awesome. We are big hikers and have hiked in this area several times. Two of our favorites (in the Lauterbrunnen area) are the hike to Obersteinberg and the hike where you take the train up to the Schyngie Platte and hike to First, ride the cable car down and take the train back to where you started. Both are rated more difficult (and are listed in the RS Switzerland book) and take most of the day, but both are awesome. As for skiing, you can ski at the top of the Jungfraujoch year round. I haven't done it, but we did borrow saucers to slide down the hills. They have snow year round up there. (There isn't much to the skiing...a rope tow and a hill...mostly a novelty)
