Has anyone made the hike from Gutshof Schluxen in Pinswang to King Ludwig II's castles? What is the hiking time (every website seems to vary, I have seen from 1 hour to 5 hours). What is the topography, elevation gain, and general condition of the trail? We plan on doing this in July 2008, and would like to verify the feasibility.

Elevation gain is 100 meters, category "easy"; the Bahn website and the local transit authority estimate a 2-hour hike. This depends on your condition of course, hence the variation in anecdotal reports. I was on the trail at the Ulrichsbrücke station for a while, where it seemed well marked and clear, but have not done the full walk.

I did this hike last year while on the Rick Steve's tour. It was very easy. We did the hike from the castle to the hotel. Very pretty views of the lake. I think it was about a hour or maybe a little longer. We were with a group so we all stayed together.

I did the hike in August. About an hour and a half, stopping a couple of times for pictures. Very easy and well marked.
