Hikers loop in Lauterbrunnen?

We are considering to give the Hikers Loop in Lauterbrunnen a shot as recommended by the Rick Steve's guide. We will skip the part of taking the cable car from Gimmelwald to Schilthorn and back from Schilthorn to Gimmelwald.
I was wondering if anyone has actually done this and had any feedback on the loop and the time it would take. Was the 'Funicular' from Murren to Allmendhube a good experience?

The Funicular from Murren to Allmendhubel is not as exciting as the Gondola rides as it is attached to the ground so you don't get quite the view you would from up in the air so I wouldn't consider it an "experience". It was a great way to get higher up to start the hike we took from Allmendhubel around and back down to Gimmelwald. This hike is in my opinion the best hike in the valley - peaceful, incredible views, and amazing scenery!

Simra, Rick lists several hikes. Precisely which one are you thinking of--starting from where and including what? Could you provide some more specific information on which hike you are considering as Rick does not identify one as a "Hiker's Loop in Lauterbrunnen"?

As Jill said, the funicular ride from Murren to Allmendhubel isn't really an "experience" whereas the cable car ride from Stechelberg to Gimmelwald to Murren definitely is. Rick begins his hikes higher up than Lauterbrunnen--from Gimmelwald, Murren, or Birg. There are numerous loop possibilities from any of those starting points. The Mountain View Trail that begins at Allmendhubel and arcs over to Grutschalp is easy but has spectacular views of the mountains. You can drop down directly from Grutschalp to Lauterbrunnen if that village is your starting point.
