We are spending a week in the Rue Cler neighborhood in Paris, then planning to rent a car for a week to travel through Giverney, spend the night in Bayeux, then drive south and drop off the car in Arles. We then have a week to travel back to Paris by train, hopefully taking the scenic route through Switzerland to Colmar. Any thoughts on this plan? Anyone know of a convenient Hertz office in Paris where we could pick up the car?
Go on Hertz.com and see where their Paris locations are. You can also go on GoogleMaps.com or Mapquest.com to figure out where the locations closest to your accomodations. You might avoid the airport locations, as there are usually substantial tariffs, taxes and fees if picked up or dropped off there.
Another tip is to never drop off a car in another country other than where you picked it up. Cross border dropoffs are often very expensive.
We rented from Hertz at Gare du Nord and it was fairly easy to get to the peripherique-about a mile and an easy drive to Giverny.
