Help with the Eurail pass !!!

Need your desperate help in ordering the rail passes. I've already placed an incorrect order and I dont want to do the same mistake again !

I need to know if the Eurail Select Saver pass will allow travel from Munich to Salzberg with a stop at Innsbruck in between on the same day ? Would it count as 1 day of the pass or 2 days, since I am making 2 separate trips ? Munich - Innsbruck and Innsbruck to Salzberg ?

Any help on this matter will be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance !

Hi Scindhia,

Does your Eurail Select Saver pass include both Germany and Austria on it? If so, then it would count as one day.

What happens is, when you use a day of the pass, it gives you unlimited travel on trains within the countries that your pass is valid, for the duration of that day. If you stop in Innsbruck and then continue on during that same day, it is still just one day of your pass.

You can make as many individual trips in the course of that day as you want.

Steven thanks much ! Yes my 5 days Eurail pass would include Germany, Austria and Switzerland .

So from what you told I think I can use 3 days of the pass to travel to these 3 countries and use the remaining days (2 days) of my Eurail pass to travel local in Switzerland. Or did I get it wring altogether ?

Thanks once again !

You can use the five days however you wish. You can use two in Switzerland, one in Germany, one to travel from Germany to Austria, etc. There are absolutely no restrictions placed upon how many days of service you allocate to each of the countries listed on the pass. As your pass is valid for all three countries, you may cross the border as many time as you want (even multiple times within one day) and it is all covered by the pass.

Now, that being said, there is the odd train that requires a seat reservation. Although your pass covers the distance the train will go, it does not cover any required reservation fees. Where you will be going, there are not many trains that will have such a fee but it might come up if you plan on taking a night train or a Swiss scenic train like the Glacier Express.

Also, your Eurail pass will only cover 25% of the fares in the Lauterbrunnen Valley. This includes the local train from Interlaken Ost to Lauterbrunnen and all trains and gondolas to Wengen, Gimmelwald and Murren. The local post bus from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg won't take it.
