HELP with reservations

I have been trying to make a reservation in Reutte Germany for the Hotel Moserhof. I have been in contact with them via email and got a quote and was told to send by email or fax by credit card info for conformation. I sent this via email and have nevet gotten a conformation. I have sent several emails and finally today I decided to call. So I make an international phone call to the hotel and a lady answers, I ask if they speak english she said no and hung up. I am more than mad. I don't know how to make a reservation if no one can take the info. I know I should get another hotel but the others are much higher and I want this area. Any tips on how to get this done?

That they have no staff that speaks English probably explains why you received no reply to your emails. Confirmations are usually sent and you should have received one. Sometimes they have arrived in our 'bulk mail' mailbox.

Another option is to find someone who speaks/writes German. You local high school or college might be helpful.

Barbara, I agree w/ Barry. Find another place and check yoru cc for unauthorized charges. If you sent the cc info by fax or email, then re-send another message and say 'CANCEL'.

try www.hrs.de for hotels as well.

Hi Barbara,

... suggest you go to the above web site and translate a message from English to German. For example, type into the translation box "My name is Barbara ____. Please send confirmation that you have received my credit card information. Kindly send your response to __________________."

You will then have your request to fax in German. If you receive a reply in German, you may translate it in similar fashion at the same babelfish.com web site.

Happy travels! P

"I know I should get another hotel but the others are much higher and I want this area." One of the things I always tell people who want to get the lowest cost accomodations, "Learn to speak the local language." Have you tried writing in German? You are acting like the typical "Ugly American", demanding that they speak your language. The higher cost is what you have to pay for your ignorance.

Lee, I understand what you are saying, however I am not demanding they speak english, I have ALREADY had several emails from them in english, so therefore someone in reservations speaks english. I have emailed them several times with responses from them in english, that is how I found out what their rates were and what type of room I would be getting.I did take the advice and send an email in german if I don't get a response in some language I will just book another room somewhere. Thanks for the advice. Barbara

Hi again, Barbara...

... Hotels change crews ... one or two speak other than their mother tongue, but they are off duty ... you may have found them in one of those awkward situations when nobody can do English... All you really need is a little patience and to try again (and maybe again) They're really nice folks in Reutte, I know ... All the best, P

Thanks to all who had advise for me. I took most of it and now problem solved. I sent one more email telling them to cancel me reservation, if I had one. WELL after all the email and calls they GET and answer the one that I say cancel. They were very nice saying they did reserve us a room after I sent cc info. Of course after that email with cc info I never heard from them again. I wanted an email saying "confirmed". I wanted to make sure when I got there I could show them email if they didn't have a room. Anywho, I did book another on Hotel Maximilian it looked pretty nice and they responded back very fast. Now I just can't wait until September. Barbara

Hi Barbara:

I think is cultural, but it seems that Germans like first a hard copy & put in the letter your e-mail address. If you are making a phone call first say Guten Morgen (Good Morning) Sprache Sie Englisch ( Do you speak English . Most Germans speak english. If you still find trouble getting accomodation in Munich, I did it 8 years ago through a 3rd party Home Munchen Company & they were really good, I ended paying less than a Hotel. My e-mail is whitefang_pl@yahoo.co.uk.

Hope this helps.
