Help with Prague to Amsterdam

I need help with the last week of a four week trip. My daughter and I will be leaving Prague on a Tuesday and flying out from Amsterdam the following Monday.(July)We will have been to Munich before Prague. I have read so much on this site and would love to see the Rhine area. I do have 4 nights booked in Amsterdam but am thinking this can be shortened. Looking for suggestions. Since we start our trip in Florence and make our way to Austria I am thinking of railpasses. Thank you

Since there is lots of competition on the Prague-Cologne flights you can get them from as low as €19 one way on germanwings.com or czechairlines.com. But much nicer is the train ride since you could stop at Würzburg for a few hours. Look for trains from Prague to Mainz on www.bahn.de. From Mainz take the train to Bacharach or St. Goar. If you can on your fist day after having visited Würzburg and maybe the downtown parts of Mainz stay over at Bacharach. On the next day do Rhine valley things like St. Goar, St. Goarshausen, river cruise. The next day to some parts of the Mosel river and Eltz castle. If you want end that day at Cologne. You'll love the cathedral and the atmosphere in the old town. Do stand on the middle of the Hohenzollern bridge (right by the cathedral) and enjoy the view of the city and how fast that wide river flows. From Cologne it's 2 to 3 hours to Amsterdam by train. So you can still explore Amsterdam.

I was thinking the same thing about the train ride because I did research Bacharach. I just wasn't sure how much time I needed. Do you think I should spend one day less in Amsterdam? I was in Germany in 1972 and remember how beautiful it was going from Frakfurt to Innsbruck via Munich. Thanks

Debbie: 3 nights in Amsterdam is sufficient.
