Help with Itinerary to Germany

Hi,

My wife and I are planning to spend 8-9 days (not counting travel days) in and around Munich next June. We would like to visit Salzberg, Vienna and Prague, too. Would that be too ambitious of a trip to fit all these desitinations? If so, which should we drop?

Thanks,

Glenn

It's not unreasonable if you make Salzberg a daytrip from Munich, but it still is a little tight. If you have to drop one city, I would leave out Vienna, not because it is not worth visiting, but it is the most difficult to fit in logistically with your timeline.

Munich, Salzburg, and Prague? Maybe rent a car and drive the Romantic Road , then fly out of Frankfurt.

Thanks so much for your help.

I think it's possible to do all three, particularly if you plan to rent a car. That way you're not bound to train schedules and can go on when you are ready to go. In my opinion, Vienna needs more time than Prague or Salzburg, though there is plenty to see in both of those, too. Munich and Bavaria have much to offer, too.

I spent 2 weeks in Bavaria this summer and wish I had spent more time in Salzburg, we made it a day trip but I could have spent many more days there- make it a main destination! It was wonderful and magical. And get up early, you may be tired but you can sleep on the train, the ealier you get up the longer your day will be for all your adventures. Have a wonderful time, its an truely magical place. Make sure you see a castel and eat in a little beer garden!

I would stay at least one night in Salzburg. It's such a beautiful place, it's worth seeing the old town at night from one of the bridges on the river. Depending on your pace and priorities you can see a lot, but not everything, in 1 1/2 days.

Drop Prague. You could stay for a night at Salzberg on your way to Vienna.
