Hello, my Husband and I will be arriving in Munich on April 12,2009 and spending two night at the flemming hotel. We do not need to to be back in Munich until April 20th when we will meet up with a group of people (work related).This is our first trip to Europe and we are having a difficult time coordinating a route(train/boat)and activities to best use our time. Things of interest: Neuschwanstein castle, Dachau, Mercedes Museum, Switzerland, Austria (? Vienna) any help you can give me or points of interest would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Linda,
This info posted by Kent will give you a good start with your planning;
Itinerary Post
This will give you an idea of the distances between the places that you want to travel.
I would skip Switzerland on this trip. If it's the mountains you want to see, April is shoulder season when the snow is too slushy for skiing and the trails are too muddy to hike, and most of the tourist industry in the mountains shuts down. With only 8 days, it would be a very expensive and time consuming side trip for little added sight-seeing benefit. The Bavarian and Tyrolian Alps are much closer to Munich, are cheaper, and not competely dead in April.
