Help with hotels in Barcelona

My daughter, grandchildren (ages 11 & 14) and I will be in Barcelona for 3 days after a cruise right before Easter in 2011. I am having a hard time getting a handle on hotels, since many do not have rooms for 4 people. We do not want an apartment and probably want to stay near Las Ramblas. Does anyone has opinions about Petit Palace Museum, Regina or Royal Ramblas or suggestions for others? Thanks.

Thanks Gail. Do you remember the name of the apartments?

Take a look at Hotel Colon. You can't beat it for convenience. You might need two adjoining rooms. It is located across the pedestrian walkway from the Cathederal and near Las Ramblas. Also near the Piccaso Museum and a train station. A very nice little Italian restaurant is just a block away for
dinner.

We stayed at
Hotel evenia Rocafort paid $238/3 nights its at Rocafort 23-25, 08015 Barcelona, Spain near Poble Sec metro station (green line - L3) and 2 other lines . Clean, good service, comfy bed. Cheap and easily accessible to go to any site and walking distance to the ramblas.

Aparthotel Acacia is very good but it's closer to the Diagonal than Las Ramblas, though by metro it's still really close by.

I second Hotel Colon. It's the best location/view in Barcelona. The main gripe is the dated floral fabrics. If you are into sleek minimalist design, this place is offensive. If not, then it's quite lovely. Splurge for the room with the view, but make sure they are done with the Cathedral restoration first. It was under a scaffold when we were there but it was fun watching the street performers in the square from the terrace anyway. You are right between the gothic quarter and Las Ramblas. Can't get better than that. Also, I would reconsider the apartment thing as that's the way to go with the size of your group.

Thanks. Leslie. I did make a reservation at the Hotel Colon. In addition to the others we have) My grandchildren like the modern look of Royal Ramblas and Regina and that they are pretty much right on Las Ramblas, so we have to sit down and hash it out. We'll see how it goes.
