ansterdam to rhine to frankfurt to rothenburg to munich? to berner oberland to paris to amsterdam. do we have to go to munich? after rothenburg we want oberland? we want this rail itinerary.....problem is germany to switzerland! want the rhine and rothenburg, after that to berner oberland or interlaken to do goldenpass train rt but on fart train, then on to paris and back to amsterdam. this will be one way with return to amsterdam via paris. we have a 4 country selectpass -- benelux, germany, switzerland, france. thanks
Once in Interlaken, you indicate that you want an rt on the Golden Pass. I assume that that means "round trip". Which round trip to you want? From Interlaken, you are about in the middle of the Golden Pass run from Lucerne to Montreux. Which direction for the round trip? Second, if you are on your way to Paris after Interlaken, why not take the Golden Pass from Interlaken to Montreux one-way. You'll be near Lausanne and Geneva and much closer to Paris.
that was very helpful about lucerne to montreux thank you. PLEASE HELP again: how about munich to lucerne? we are just looking to do germany then scenic swizerland on the slow train instead of the panaromic train. was told of the fart train instead of the goldenpass train. then on to montruex toward paris??? So this would be: amsterdam to munich to lucerne ?? to montreux to paris and back to amsterdam. thanks in advance
Barry, most train runs from Munich Hbf to Lucerne will route through Ulm, Stuttgart and Zurich before going onto Lucerne. Not to many other choices. From Lucerne to Interlaken, you can take the faster train on the same tracks as the Golden Pass. From Interlaken to Montreux, should you choose this run, the scenery is much better and higher on this portion of the Golden Pass run. Again, from Montreux, you have a straight shot into Paris via Lausanne or Geneva. About 5.0hrs.
i think we have it. thanks, great info!
