We are flying into Zurich and out of Paris, with 13 nights on the ground. Here's what we're currently thinking: Berner Oberland 4-5 nights Mont St. Michel/Normandy 4 nights Paris 4 nights (multiple prior Paris visits) Questions:
Our "goal" for the Berner Oberland is to walk/hike/stroll, ride cable cars, eat delicious food, and breathe fresh mountain air. Is Muerren a good homebase? If we stay there (which appears to be car-free) are we better off taking the train from Zurich airport, or is car more economical with 4 people (for purpose of getting to Muerren and possible day trip to Luzern)? Is a day trip shortchanging Luzern? In Normandy we would like to rent a gite that affords access to MSM, Bayeux and the WWII beaches. Can anyone recommend a gite that's convenient to the sites above, perhaps also convenient to a swimming/wading beach? Comments and suggestions welcome!
