Help with Austria OEBB web site - route calculation

I would like to get from Klosterneuburg, Austria to Bratislava, Slovakia next Friday, and would like to make it as easy as possible. I would like to arrive in Bratislava (at the main station - hl. st.) on the 12:27 train. The web site gives me a number of options, some involving several changes and some involving only two changes. However, there are a couple of variables that are not clear. First, the site displays little iconographic symbols that denote what type of train service is being used, but I can't find a legend for them anywhere. Second, with the itinerary that only has two changes, I found via a series of Google searches that it apparently involves taking a tram. However, I have not been able to find a tram map online so that I can figure out how many stops are involved, how long I will be on the tram, etc. In other words, I am trying to map out the whole itinerary so that I know where I will be at what time, and do not miss any connections, etc. The OEBB site is helpful, but not helpful enough. Either that, or I haven't figured out how to use it properly. I wonder if there is someone who is very familiar with the Vienna transportation network and could offer any suggestion as to which itinerary would be best, and what it would involve. Again, I am looking for next Friday, September 6th, leaving Klosterneuburg sometime in the morning in such a way that I can get to Bratislava on the train that arrives in the main station at 12:27pm. Thanks!

Is there any reason why you want to go to Bratislava by train? The bus is so much easier and it drops you off in the center of town - as opposed to the train station which requires a really long walk, or a tram ride to reach center. Google Eurolines or Blaguss for schedules to get you from Erdberg station in Vienna (on the U3 line) to the UFO bridge (Novy Most) in Bratislava. To get the Erdberg from Klosterneuburg - get back into Vienna, probably easiest to get to the U4 at Heiligenstadt. Take the U4 until Landstrasse, switch to the U3 and get off at Erdberg. If you really want to take the train, I can tell you that the R symbol means Regional Train; REX means Regional Express train; the picture that looks like a tram is a tram; the person walking means that you will walk; the blue circle with the squiggly S means S-Bahn or schnell bahn (train); the circle with the U inside means U-bahn (subway). Overall, when using the OeBB tool, do not count on the times for any local transport, such as the U-bahn or trams. These are only estimes and you will need to give yourself a cushion to make sure you eventually make the REX train, which will be on time.

Thanks, Emily. It does look like the bus might be a tad faster, whereas the train has a more northern route and makes a bunch of stops. Either way, it seems the more complex part is getting from Klosterneuburg to Vienna. We'll see how I'm feeling towards the end of this coming week: maybe I'll just take a cab. I do like the idea of using the Vienna subway system better to get from a northern point into the train or bus station, as it is probably faster than the tram, but I can't seem to find a web site that will include subway routes as part of the results. Thanks for your help!
