Help w/ a hotel in Sevilla, please!

Can anyone recommend one? I've tried the suggestions in Rick's guidebooks and most of them are sold out for Oct 17-20, when I will be there. Another question - I haven't heard back from one hotel, the Alcantara, even though I sent them three emails. Normally I would book through the hotel, but since I haven't heard back from them I don't know if I should try to book through a website like hotels.com? Those websites show availabilities. I'm just nervous because I don't want to show up and be told I don't have a reservation. Has anyone stayed in the "additional" rooms at the Hotel Alminar? They are booked in the main hotel, but told me that they have three renovated rooms across the street, all the same as the ones in the hotel and we'd have the same services, etc. I've heard horror stories of people getting sent to places other than the hotel they booked with.

We liked the Hotel Amadeus. Since it is in Rick's guidebook I assume you have tried that. On a number of occasions we stay in the "extra" rooms which are often separated from the hotel and it was fine. In fact, Amadeus has addition rooms in a building two doors north of their entrance and they are fine. The only horror stories I have heard is being sent to another hotel across town. Across the street probably is fine.

Thanks, Frank. The Amadeus was our first choice but they're full. I suppose the extra rooms at the Alminar will be OK, I just wish I could see them on their website or something....

I booked the Hotel Alcantara so I would try contacting them again. I originally booked the YH Giralda (on RS guidebook) but switched over to the Hotel Alcantara because they were rated highly at Trip Advisor. I thought the rate was also reasonable.

I see the Alcantara has an availability through the hotel-booking websites (hotels.com, venere, etc). Not sure if this would be OK to book through? (I've never booked a hotel that way before)

I use venere frequently. Never had a problem, nor have I heard of anybody who has.

Thanks! I booked a room at the Alcantara for next month through Venere. I was just confused as to why the hotel was not replying to my emails asking for a reservation. In all my years of travel, I have not had any kind of problem with hotels or reservations or anything, knock on wood. <fingers crossed>
