Hi,I just found out that I'll be going to Bern for a short course early March, I'll arrive on 26/2 and will have 2 free days over the weekend before my course starts on 1/3. The course will take 3 days and then im off to Rome for another. I would like to make the best of my stay in Bern, since this is my first trip there. Received lots of advice on spending 1 day travelling to Interlaken-Lucerne-Zurich and back to Berne, but im not sure whether it is feasible, especially since Im travelling with my 2 years old daughter.
I have gone through many websites on the train schedule etc, but I need experts' opinions from you guys..thanx..
I'm not sure what you're asking? Do you want advice on whether it's a good idea to take a two year old an all-day scenic train journey? Do you want advice on train connections/schedules? Or are you looking for some other places to for you and your daughter to visit?
Sorry for the lack of info. I do want advice on train connections/schedules and whether I can cover Interlaken-Lucerne-Zurich in a day. Thanx
If you're just looking to stay on the train and enjoy the moving scenery, it's very easy to do in a day:
Bern to Interlaken Ost takes under 1 hour. From Ost you transfer to the Golden Pass train to Luzern, journey time 2 hours. From Luzern to Zurich another hour, and then another hour back to Bern. You hould have time for a quick visit in Luzern, or the Zoo in Zurich
If your plan is to go to the Schilton or Jungfrau outside of the Interlaken area, then you wouldn't be able to do the entire journey in one day....it's almost a four hour RT journey to reach Jungfrau from Kleine Scheidegg.
You can check schedules at the Swiss Rail site:
Thank you so much for the info. I was looking at the swiss scenic routes map and it seems the Golden Pass Line ends in Zurich. However, when I cross-checked with some websites on GoldenPass Line, it didnt mentioned Zurich.
Im also a bit confuse with the passes available - Swiss Pass, Swiss Transfer Ticket, Swiss Flexi Pass etc..tq
