Has anyone had luck purchasing RS in France? Or us anyone leaving Paris on Monday and willing to part with their guide book?
IF by chance you are staying near Rue Cler, stop at Hotel Le'Veque, I'm sure they will have even an old copy or direct you to someone or somewhere to get one.
Seems like you have access to a computer, use it to get to Rick's website, etc.
Yes, I'll bet it's "real" hard to find a RS book ANYWHERE in the 7th ;-)
There are two bookstores that come to mind. WHSmith rue de Rivoli. (not far from Louvre). Red Wagon in the Marias You can also download if you have an e reader.
W.H. Smith bookshop at Place de la Concorde, metro Concorde, lines 1, 8, and 12. If you're on Line 1 and arrive at Concorde, look at the other end of the train for the rue Cambon exit. when you come up at rue Cambon, W.H. smith will be just across the street. They have Rick's books, all sorts of helpful Plans de Paris and fun specialty shop books (best patisseries, made by hand, etc etc), along with keepsake volumes. They're open 7 days a week, evenings until 7 pm, open Sundays at 12:30. Gee, you'd think I was still on the payroll or something . . .
Of course when you get home you will discover you missed something you really would have liked because you "winged" it. There's a fine line and some prep is always good. At least you then KNOW what you are missing when you make your decisions.
Can you download it from Amazon/B&N, etc.? If you're actually typing this thread while ON the plane, you have some sort of 'device' you could buy it on...
Last hotel I stayed in had one in the lobby. Plus as noted you seem to be able to go on the internet , so do you really need the book. I have never brought a whole guide book with me, too heavey, I have just pulled sections out, but then I never have assess to a computer normally. I bet several hotels have the books in the lobby.
