Thinking of taking a 9:45 am flight from Toulouse to Paris late May. This would mean leaving Lourdes about 6:00 a.m.via rental car and depositing said car at airport. ( We will have had car for a week) The time does not bother us, but are concerned about the roads - traffic and visability at that time of day. Any problems -, will these be mountainous, therefore dangerous roads especially at that time of day? We may also be able to get an early flight from Lourdes to paris 6:15 am... but not too many flights there. Has anyone done this route? Does anyone know how far ahead we would have to be at the Toulouse airport or the Lourdes airport?
Thank you.
Check out GoogleMaps.com, enter the two cities, click on 3D, the route doesn't look mountainous at all. Can't help with the rest though.
The drive is almost all on an Autoroute - like our interstates - so it isn't bad at all. When you go from Lourdes to Toulouse you're basically heading away from the Pyrenees. Another option you might consider is to return the car in Lourdes and then take the TGV to Paris. There are 2 or 3 direct trains a day (depends on the day) right to the Gare Montparnasse in Paris. The journey on the TGV is about 6 hours; it's a very comfortable way to travel.
