Help me find a Paris hotel!

My first choice the Champ du Mar is not responding to my E-mails. Please, what would be your second choice? What other areas would be nice. Marais?? Cheap please

Champ du Mar is in the 7th, and there are many other hotels in that area besides the Champ du Mar. Are you looking for a budget hotel - try Hotel Kensington, Hotel Royal Phare, Grand Hotel Leveque. More upscale - try Hotel La Bourdonnais...they are all in the 7th and very close to each other.

Melanie,
The Hôtel Esmeralda is directly across the Seine river from Notre Dame cathedral. They have only 19 rooms and budget prices. You can locate Hôtel Esmeralda information via www.Google.com which includes critiques of former guests and photographs. Some rooms have a view of Notre Dame.
Here's a thought:- sometimes foreign hôtel email replies are deemed spam [for whatever reason] by our computers; perhaps it's the funny way they write "hôtel". You might check your spam cache; maybe the response is already there... bon voyage! P.

Melanie,

We just booked at Grand Hotel Leveque and Hotel Beaugency for our trip. Both had rooms available and both have online reservation systems. Leveque's prices (Prices are for this summer) ranged from 97 euro to 125 euro. The Beaugency was 115 euro for a twin with a 3 night package special (breakfast included). Both of these are in the Rue Cler area and though I haven't stayed at either, the reviews have been pretty good on both (though rooms are small). Hope this helps!

On our trip the hotel in Paris was the only place that didn't confirm our booking after I sent the credit card information, even after re-emailing them. I braved the language barrier and rang them, found out the person who answered the phone spoke English, and they confirmed we were booked. They seemed quite surprised I hadn't received a confirmation email.

Melanie, I stayed at the Grand Hotel Leveque in the Rue Cler area, and would certainly recommend them. The rooms were not fancy but certainly clean and comfortable, and the location was fantastic. It's only a short walk to the Ecole Militaire Metro stop. There are also two ATM's only a few steps from the front door!

I used the online booking system with no problems. As I recall, Rick feels that the breakfast is not worth the cost, but I always had breakfast at the Hotel (it's a "continental" style, with juice, baguette, coffee, etc.). The first breakfast is free for RS readers, I believe. The "beam me up Scotty" elevator is quite unique.

Good luck and happy travels!

Melanie,

My vote would be Hotel Leveque. Close to metro, can walk to Eifel Tower, ATMs close by, and a little pastry and coffee shop on the corner that is much better that the hotel breakfast and cheaper to boot.

Go to one of the many travel reservation sites such as Expeida. They will list many hotels; their location, and price. Once you choose the hotel that interests you, go to tripadvisor.com for reviews.

Thank you everyone. We have booked with Hotel Royal Phare which was about 20E cheaper per night than the Leveque hotel and still a five minute walk to the Eifel tower.
