We are planning a June swiss/Germany trip . Anyone experience June skiing in Zermatt? Many runs open? the ski website is a little contradictory in what to expect . We are intermediate to high intermed. skiers. Is there ski clothes rental? Not sure whether to go to Zermatt after Berner Oberland. Thanks!

From what I understand, there usually is late-season skiing on the high slopes available in Zermatt, but frankly, the conditions suck- very wet. One of my friends, an avid skier, once tried it in early June. He said the novelty lasted about 10 minutes. His typical winter ski clothes were too warm, but in the slushy conditions, he became so wet that conversely, he became uncomfortably cold again in between runs.

Joanne- 2 years ago I wanted to ski in May in Zermatt- I was told by a hotel owner not to do it and some of the hotels close in May before the hiking season starts. If you plan on Zermatt check hotels first.
