Help - hotel in St. Goar/Bacharach

I'm desperately trying to book hotels for 2 nights (Sep 12/13) in either St. Goar or Bacharach but no luck (no availability). not sure if my days fall into special event. As I already booked ryan flight to Rome on Sep 14, I couldn't revise the initiary. If you know which hotels I can contact for a stay on these 2 nights, pl help advise. Below is my try wt no availablity:
-booking.com
-bacharachhotels.travels-booking.com
-hotel.info/sankt_goar
-hostelbooking.com
-all hotels suggested in the book "Best of Europe" Rick steves (St Goar & Bacharach)
-Hotel Zure Loreley
-Hotel Kurtmann

is there a chance to find a hotel upon arrival wt no booking? any places for visitors without booking can refer to for a stay?

cheers,
quy

Sept 12/13 is a weekend, probably not a good time to show up in those small towns, with limited # of rooms, without booking in advance. During the week, maybe, but a weekend makes a difference in strategy.

September is peak, it's the wine harvest/festival time. You may want to save that area for another trip.

Have you checked the hostel in Bacharach? It's quite nice - in a castle overlooking town and a great deal...

Booking.com, or any of those booking websites should be your last resort. They offer a very limited selection at prices that are often not better than the hotels own website. I have had great success using the town websites, here www.bacharach.de, to find accommodations.

In Bacharach, my favorite is Hotel Im Malerwinkel, www.im-malerwinkel.de.

Quy - there's a big wine festival in Oberwesel on that weekend.

Here's the local Tourist Information Office website for St. Goar; there are probably some places listed here that you have not seen on those websites you mention. It contains listings of hotels, apartments, and private B&B's:

http://www.st-goar.de/612-1-host-directory.html

This page lists apartments for rent; :

http://www.st-goar.de/586-1-fewos.html

We stayed at the Ferienwohnung Rheinblick Aptm , Walter Huppertz, host. It's a great little place near everything and with a view of the Rhine. THE BOOKING CALENDAR FOR THIS LISTING ON THE ABOVE PAGE SHOWS AVAILABILITY ON SEPT. 12 AND 13 RIGHT NOW. You'll pay a cleaning fee and maybe a surcharge for a short stay on top of the regular 40-Euro price. I suggest you contact Mr. Huppertz right away.

Some of the apartments with booking calendars show availability but are in suburbs - St. Goar-Biebernheim or St. Goar-Werlau indicat that the apt. is away from the center of town and probably would require a taxi to come and go from/to the train station.

You could also look into staying in Koblenz or in Boppard, both further to the north.

Thank you all very much. Your advises are very helpful, especially Russ. Though I failed to book your suggested hotels but from your suggested link st-goar.de, I got an apartment (Mittel Rhein) of Zijnzicht. very happy now. again, thank so much.

by the way, any experience at Zijnzicht to share?

Quy: Try the restaurant at Hotel Hauser in St. Goar...many menu options, great food, nice outdoor patio overlooking the Rhein.
